Note from DTA Editor – In addition to being super energy efficient, Ice Lake may not benefit the average gamer, but the new instruction set it contains is said to significantly speed up AI and analytics applications.
Processors Ice Lake will be available by the end of 2019.
During a press conference at CES 2019 Intel representatives spoke about the Core chips of the ninth generation of laptops and a line of Ice Lake.
New devices with these processors will appear in 2019.
Processors Ice Lake will be available by the end of 2019. They will get graphics Intel the eleventh generation, and a separate chip for the system of machine learning and neural networks.
The company also shed light on a platform that is still in development, codenamed Lakefield, which is expected to be launched in 2019. The new product provides a higher level of integration due to new microarchitecture, Sunny Cove, offers a set of instructions to speed with artificial intelligence and graphics Intel Gen11.
“We assume that it will work the same way as many mobile chips with different cores, which perform different tasks depending on how they are resource-intensive, maximizing efficiency and power,” notes Engadget.
In addition, were shown the new six Core processors, the ninth generation designed for laptops – i3, i5, i7 and i9. Equipped device will be available in the coming months.
Project Athena – a certification program for OEM partners, which should push the market to create a new generation of laptops. Intel is focusing on 5G technology and AI. Intel did not quite understand what you need in order to claim the title of the Project Athena machines, but expects from such devices, compact form factors, long battery life, and instant “waking up” when the lid is opened.
On the basis of the program roadmap, we’ll begin to see the first devices Project Athena in the second half of this year. All major manufacturers have already developed such gadgets: Acer, Asus, Dell, Google, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, Samsung. This device will work on both Windows and Chrome OS.
