Being a fan of metaphors, I took the liberty to borrow the quotation on effective governance from Filipino president, who certainly did not have any shortage of challenges to deal with during his presidential tenure – just like majority of organizations and their relationship/attitude towards Data Governance programmes.

In my previous post, we were discussing some traditional challenges of any data governance initiative – changing role of data stewards in light of data getting bigger as we speak (data lake versus data warehouse = and its connotations), data being siloed and the long-lasting ambition for holistic view of company data sources or data governance empowerment (frequently, lack of it).

Important fact (perhaps not always realized by all) is that data governance initatives are not revenue generating engine – they are here for effective risk management and operational efficiency (just a reminder).
