Empowering the Digital Experience With Wi-Fi 6
June 23, 2020 Blog

One of the things we have come to realise from the COVID-19 lockdowns worldwide is that Internet connectivity is a modern-day necessity. Without the Internet, most of us would feel paralysed as we are not able to connect to our favourite apps. Be it working in the office or working from home; the Internet is vital for us. And it’s not just for communicating, sending emails or video conferences. Today we have IoT devices that rely heavily on the Internet to work as well.

Apart from mobile network coverage, access to the Internet requires a robust Wi-Fi connection. Many companies with legacy Wi-Fi services have experienced unstable connections and dark spots now and then. This needs to change. With Wi-Fi available almost anywhere today, the demand for stronger, stable and faster Internet connectivity increases as well.

With 5G technology making its mark, the entire Wi-Fi industry has to evolve as well. In order to experience the full benefits of 5G technology, Wi-Fi connections have to be upscaled to support this. And this is where Wi-Fi 6 comes in. Wi-Fi 6 is the next-generation standard in Wi-Fi technology. It builds on and improves on the current 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard, and is able to support the growing number of connected devices today.

At the same time, the COVID-19 pandemic has created a new reality when it comes to social interaction. As businesses slowly come back into operations, employees have to practice social distancing measures at work. Meetings, events and press conferences are also now mostly done online. Again, a strong Internet connection is essential in enabling a seamless experience when conducting such tasks.

For large organisation occupying a huge office space or a number of buildings, communication is key. SSE, a parent company of Energotel, a Slovak energy and communications company that provides advanced communications services to energy enterprises and commercial customers, alike. With employees increasingly reliant on untethered devices, the company’s legacy Wi-Fi network was unable to support it. The company deployed Wi-Fi 6 to build a vastly improved wireless office network, enabling a four-fold increase in user access and ideal for large bandwidth applications.

Also, automation is key for businesses hoping to achieve IR4.0. In the manufacturing industry, for example, smarter machines built on IoT technology require reliable network connectivity to function and transmit high amounts of data. Huawei’s Intelligent Wi-Fi 6 is able to support this as its primarily built to support high industry demands. The smart antenna technology is able to filter signals and continuously optimise antenna selection algorithms, ensuring lower latency for smart machines and IoT devices in manufacturing plants or offices.

Meanwhile, in the education sector, universities are now having to conduct virtual learning for students on campus. And students need strong Internet to be able to take part in these classes. Tunisia’s Esprit University for example planned to introduce advanced technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and 4K video to deliver superior teaching experiences over the next three to five years. Wi-Fi 6 appeared to offer the ideal solution, far outstripping Wi-Fi 5 in terms of bandwidth, concurrency, and latency, making the newest Wi-Fi standard the obvious choice for Esprit to reinvent its wireless campus network.

Huawei’s AirEngine Wi-Fi 6 powered by 5G, outperforms other Wi-Fi 6 products in the industry as it integrates Huawei’s 5G and AI technologies. They are ideally suited to build all-wireless high-quality networks for enterprise office, production and public service scenarios. With the new normal seeing everything move to a digital setting, being able to provide a robust Wi-Fi connection is essential to avoid any latency issues.

Huawei is able to provide that ideal connection for you. To find out more about Huawei’s Wi-Fi 6 offering, click here.
